Marshal Training. There will be police accredited marshal training after the SDVLCC race on March 4 at the McLaren Flat Community Clubrooms, conducted by Neville Elliott. Training will start at about 11.30 am after the race presentation.  If you haven't had marshal training or need a refresher then please try to attend   -   the invitation is open to riders from all Veterans Cycling Clubs  -  it will only take about 30 minutes. On completion you will receive a certificate in the post. Please Email Terry Proctor at tijp@adam.com.au if you are attending or if you have any questions.

Club Race Referees. All committee members (see list here) are to become AVCC accredited referees at the club level. As such, they will have authority to warn riders that transgress any of the AVCC race rules or club racing rules. If they consider the transgressions serious (with particular emphasis on rider safety) they will report to the race day committee (club president, handicapper and race organiser) who may decide to impose a penalty (such as disqualification) after due consideration and discussion with the alledged offender. Please cooperate with the referees and extend due respect to them in the interests of fairer and safer racing. The safety page lists the main issues that the club referees will be vigilant of.

New and renewal membership. Membership forms for 2012 are now available. Both new and renewing members should use the full form. Renewals are due on 1st January 2012. As in past years, from 1st October, new members will be able to take out licences covering them from 1st October to 31st December 2011. Again we are encouraging online renewals by downloading the form (a MS Word document), completing and emailing to the registrar. Payment can be by EFT (see bottom of full form or email for details), cheque or cash and is required before your first race for 2012. If you are emailing your completed form please indicate your preferred method of payment. There will again be the option in 2012 to opt out of marshalling by payment of an additional $50 levy.

There will be no increase in the insurance premium in 2012.

Safety issue of the week. Click here for 6/10/2011 update. See also this link to notes from the safety seminar on 3rd July.

New riders, race etiquette and tactics. New riders or anyone unsure of race etiquette and tactics, particularly in handicap races, are urged to contact John Amos who has volunteered to tutor those interested in this area. Written information is also available in two articles on this site; bunch skills for cyclists and racing in bunches. Many of our more experienced riders might also benefit from refreshing their thoughts in these areas.
